So this is it. The day that all high school seniors look forward to. The start of a new life, a new beginning. Freedom and fun and the promise of memories to be made. Not graduation day, although that was pretty big.
No; today, I am officially a college student.
I'm not really sure how I feel about it, too be honest. I was never really good at figuring out what I'm feeling at any given moment. However, sitting here typing this up, I think I feel a little nervous, a little excited, and a little bit overwhelmed.
It's different, I think, moving from a house full of family, and people I care about (even though they do annoy me sometimes and I really never set foot outside of my room!) to a dorm full of strangers. I don't know anyone here, which is daunting. I'm not really sure how I'm going to make friends, or find my kind of people, but I'm sure that God will lead them to me. Or me to them, whichever way it works out.
Anyway!
I've finally gotten everything where I want it to be, except for the few things my mom rearranged to her liking (need to get those things put back into place!!) and registration is all done!
So naturally, I'm hiding away in my dorm listening to Imagine Dragons and writing a blog.
I am, however(!), going to make an effort to look for people to hang out with once I'm done here. I'm not really sure how big that desire is though; I think I'm trying to talk myself out of it because it's going to take too much effort!!! ;) Haha, oh well, I still need to make some new friends here.
Hmm, I'm not sure what else to write about honestly. I guess I can recount the days adventures and what's going to happen tonight. ( I think I'm going to leave the door open to attract any other fellow music lovers ;) ) Anyway, my day so far has been this:
Woke up at 6:30 to get dressed and ready to leave by 7:45. We packed up everything last night so we wouldn't have to rush it this morning. We got here at 8, checked in, dropped all my crap into my room and then I went to meet Kayla outside my dorm. She's such a sweetheart; she offered to help me move in so I could get rid of my parents! ;p Anyway, we spent the next two hours setting up my dorm bit by bit until about 10:30 when we left to go get in line for registration.
You guys, I HAVE A POST BOX!!!!!!
I know, it's pretty exciting right? I have my own post box for mail and letters and I'm really excited about it! I got a free t-shirt at reg too. I think it's cool how the freshmen orientation is Wizard of Oz themed! We grabbed lunch at the cafeteria when I got done, and then I had to come back for my laptop to get it set up for wifi. After that I came back here and decided to write this up really quick. I think at two I have to head out to the brick pit for the freshmen group picture; after that we're free to do whatever we want until 5. I, however, can't leave campus since my car is currently sitting at home. I might run over to the WAC though! There's a dinner thing for everyone from 5 to 6:30 and then we have to do convocation (whatever that is) and afterwards are a bunch of meetings until like 10.
So that's pretty much it for today. Nothing too exciting, but exciting in it's own way.
I guess that's all I'll write for now. Tomorrow I get to set up for class scheduling which I'm excited for. I'll have my official schedule by Monday!
Okay this really is it for now. Ciao!
